Work was hell.
I got in around 9. I left around ... 8:45. The morning was more bug fixing. Killed a few bugs. Committed a few patches. The afternoon was writing XSLT stylesheets to format the conformance report. Trivial, yet pleasantly enriching; there's nothing more relaxing than spending an hour or two deciding which format looks best, or which colour coding schemes are pleasing and intuitive.
I was feeling mildly productive around 6 so I kept on working. And work I did, until about 8:45.
There were about two cars left in the parking lot. It's a long weekend Friday. Most people were gone by 4.
I was driving along Finch, westbound, approaching Bayview. It started to rain. The lights from the cars in front of me started to blur and shimmer and fade with the lights on my windshield.
Going at a moderately reasonable pace. Not too fast. Not too slow.
And then I see two bright red lights in front of me. I slam on the brakes. Skid. ABS brakes go *thwunkthwunkthwunk*. WHAM!
Before I know it, they're out of the car, looking at the (non-existant) damage. I'm sitting in there, wondering what the hell happened. Cars honk in disgust as they move around us. I forget to put my flashers on. Ooops. [Ed note: I just realized that -now-, three hours later.]
We pull over to the side of the road. Do the insurance exchange thing. I left two little paint scratches on their bumper from my stupid license plate screws. It'll have to be re-painted. It's a mistake that's going to cost me $300. Atleast they were nice about it.
I've had a rough day. |
